Volunteering for Miss Amazing is a fun and rewarding experience for all involved! Many of the girls and women with disabilities in our community come from rural areas of our state, so you are definitely making a direct difference in someone’s life!
As for volunteer roles, we have multiple ways you can make our participants’ Miss Amazing experience something they will never forget. We fully expect you to also have an experience you will not forget by not hesitating to interact with all the girls and women that make up our community.
Buddies
When you’re a Buddy at our annual Amplify event, your role is to ensure your paired participant gets to where they need to be the day you are paired up and just be there when they need you. Outside of that, you basically spend the day making a new friend and learning about any awesome passions they have.
If you encounter a situation requiring assistance, reach out to one of the designated Ambassadors or one of the Directors who can help further. Additionally, it is expected that you spend the entire day with your paired participant.
Right Hand Men
As a Right Hand Man at our annual Amplify event, you are to accompany your paired participant during the participant’s introduction during the Final Show. You will walk your paired participant out to the stage and off the stage one their introduction is complete. You may end up walking multiple participants out during the Final Show, but the procedure is essentially the same no matter if you walk one or ten participants out.
Right Hand Men are expected to show up for On-Stage Practice at 1:00pm each day of our Amplify event that you are signed up for and are free after the Final Show wraps for the day. Right Hand Men are expected to wear formal wear such as a suit and tie, but other formal wear such as military dress are accepted if you are in the military.
Ambassadors
Our Directors count on our Ambassadors to ensure Amplify is an exciting experience for all our participants. From helping set up the decorations to helping tear down said decorations to helping all our participants make sure they understand the rules of the stage, you help make Amplify a weekend all our participants are sure to not forget!
It is expected that you are assisting all weekend during Amplify unless prior arrangements have been made with our Directors.
Additional Information
We do provide all of our volunteers with food as it’s the least we can do for your hard work making our Amplify event an amazing experience for all of our participants! We totally understand if something unexpected comes up that requires you to leave early, but do let a Director know so we’re not left wondering what’s going on.
